I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

From “Dune” by Frank Herbert
We have all been there… The moment that you realize your life will change so dramatically, that no matter how prepared you might think you are for the situation something will inevitably go wrong. But you persist with the plan no matter what, because this is the only way you see yourself succeed. This my friends is Overcoming Fear. Fear from the Big UNKNOWN.
What if…
What if…
What if…
We can not see the future. Nobody can. The only thing we can sense is the confidence that no matter how difficult life will be, we have the inner strength to overcome the obstacles along our way.
Here is how my immigration journey began about 10 years ago (…I can’t believe so much time has passed!!!…) back in my home town on the sea coast.
Back in 1998, the country I was born in was still going through some VERY difficult changes – in Economical, Political, Religious, Cultural and all other aspects of life. All these changes started couple of years after the Berlin Wall came down and resulted in transitioning from socialist government (One Party to rule them all…) into a democratically elected government like in US (… Two Parties to rule them all…
). I knew these changes are for good although we all knew that the times ahead are going to be tough. Very tough. What my young brain did not expect at that time, though, was that the changes will be SO slow, and that so many of the old “nomenclaturchiks” (…look this one up, will you?) will stay in place and continue to excercise their diminishing powers to try to stop the inevitable – CHANGE!
