A week ago I was happily browsing the shelves of a local supermarket, trying to find nice gift for my beautiful wife, to celebrate together the occasion. The flower boquet was OK and the little nice fluffy heart ornament was very cute, but when I reached the shelves with Valentines Chocolates I balked!
All, and I mean ANY and ALL of the beautiful heart-shaped boxes of chocolate candy contained our American-Food-Industry-Beloved Hydrogenated Soy / Palm / Cotton Seed / You-Name it Oil.

ALL of the boxes…

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!!!!!!!

Why is this fact so outrageous? Because, folks, in two little pieces of chocolate candy there is 1/2 a gram of these artificially created ”killer” fats, which according to this Wikipedia article some countries have completely banned from their food chain altogether (Denmark, Switzerland).

So yes – have a Happy Trans Fatty Valentines Day, even if it kills you! :)

But don’t count on my money (Hershey, Nestle, Mars, etc…),  because I’m not buying your junky chocolate candy anymore!!!

What choice is there, when no convenient commercial alternative us available?

One idea will be to make a surprise desert for your sweetheart, from ingredients you feel comfortable with. For the chocolate lovers (and as my personal choice…) such desert could be a delicious fudge browny. There are plenty recipies on the web on how to make these tasty chocolate bites using natural and if available organic ingredients. No Trans Fats, no high-fructose corn syrup, no artificial colors and sweeteners – just pure chocolate delight!

Yum!!!
